Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
Exchange ("Exchange," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Exchange mobile application and this website (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The Service is intended only for adults aged 18 or older.
1. Who we are
The Service is provided by Exchange Social App, LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at privacy@exchangesocialapp.com.
2. Age requirement
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, if higher) to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a person under 18, we will delete it. Where required by law, we use age-assurance and identity-verification measures to confirm that users are adults.
3. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: email address, date of birth, and login credentials.
- Profile information: the information you choose to add, such as display name, age, photos, videos, bio, interests, and relationship details.
- Precise location: your device's GPS location, used to show you nearby members and calculate distances. You control it through your device's location permission; location-based features won't work without it.
- Approximate location from your IP address: used to determine which country's or state's laws apply to your use of the Service (for example, age-verification rules).
- Age-verification data: where the law requires it, age checks are handled by our third-party verification provider, which may process a photo of your ID and a selfie. We receive the result and limited status information, not a copy of your ID.
- Profile-verification data: if you choose to get the verified badge, you submit a selfie (and, for couples and throuples who share one login, each person's photo ID). Our team reviews these by hand and deletes them once the review is complete. We do not create or store face templates.
- Content: messages, photos, videos, and other content you upload or send through the Service.
- Usage and device information: app activity, device identifiers, IP address, and diagnostic data.
- Website visits: when you visit exchangesocialapp.com, our analytics provider (Metricool) records basic visit statistics, such as pages viewed, referring site, approximate location, and device and browser type, so we can see how people find us. This applies to the website only, not the app.
- Payment information: subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by Apple and Google. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
4. Sensitive information
Because of what the Service is, some information you share may be treated as sensitive personal information or consumer health data under laws such as the California CPRA, the Washington My Health My Data Act, and Nevada SB 370. This includes:
- your precise geolocation;
- information that may reveal your sexual orientation or sex life, such as who you're interested in, your relationship structure, and your interests;
- intimate photos or videos you choose to share privately; and
- age- and profile-verification data.
We use sensitive information only to provide the Service (nearby discovery, distance, messaging), to verify eligibility, and to keep the Service safe. We do not sell it, we do not share it for targeted advertising, and we do not use it to infer characteristics about you for advertising. By creating an account and providing this information, you consent to this processing. You can withdraw consent and request deletion at any time (see Section 8); withdrawing consent for information the Service depends on may mean you can no longer use it.
5. How we use your information
- To provide, operate, and improve the Service, including location-based discovery and matching.
- To verify your age and identity where required.
- To keep the Service safe, including content moderation, fraud prevention, and detecting prohibited content.
- To communicate with you about your account, updates, and support.
- To comply with legal obligations.
6. Content moderation and child-safety
We use automated and manual review to detect and remove prohibited content. Every image you upload is checked against known child sexual abuse material (CSAM) using Microsoft PhotoDNA, and is screened by an automated content classifier operated by a service provider. We have zero tolerance for CSAM. Where we identify apparent CSAM, we will remove it, preserve information as required by law, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or other authorities as required by applicable law.
7. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:
- With other users: the profile information and content you choose to make visible.
- With service providers: vendors who help us operate the Service (for example, hosting, age verification, content moderation, analytics, and email), under contractual confidentiality obligations.
- With advertising partners: free accounts may see ads. Our ad partners may receive device identifiers to deliver and measure ads. We never give them your sensitive information (Section 4). You can limit ad tracking in your device settings, and paid plans are ad-free.
- For legal reasons: to comply with law, enforce our terms, protect safety, or respond to lawful requests.
- In a business transfer: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information;
- limit the use of your sensitive personal information (we already limit it to what the Service needs; see Section 4);
- withdraw consent to our processing of consumer health data, and have it deleted;
- opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising; and
- appeal a decision we make about your request.
To exercise these rights, email privacy@exchangesocialapp.com or use the in-app account controls. We will verify your request and respond within the time the law requires. An authorized agent may submit a request for you where the law allows. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You can also edit your profile, turn off location in your device settings, and delete your account within the app.
9. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business or legal purposes. Profile-verification selfies and ID images are deleted when our review is complete. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your information, except where we must keep it longer by law, for example, material preserved and reported to NCMEC under federal child-safety law.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International users
The Service is operated from the United States. If you access it from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated as required by law.
