Safety & age standards

A community for adults, built on consent.

Exchange is only for adults 18 and older. Here's how we keep it that way, and how we keep the community respectful.

Adults only

  • Everyone must confirm they are 18 or older with their date of birth when they sign up. Accounts that don't meet the age requirement are blocked.
  • Members can verify their identity with a photo ID and selfie for a verified badge. A real person reviews every verification.
  • Where the law requires additional age verification, we require it before members can access certain features.
  • If we learn a user is under 18, we remove the account. You can report a suspected minor from any profile, or email childsafety@exchangesocialapp.com.

What's allowed where

Public areas

Profile photos, the browse grid, Right Now posts and event listings must not contain nudity or sexually explicit images. Every public photo is scanned when it's uploaded, and explicit photos are rejected.

Private areas

In one-to-one chats and private albums you choose to share, consenting adults may share images of themselves. Nothing private is visible to anyone unless its owner shares it.

Never share images of another person without their explicit consent. Violent or illegal content is not allowed anywhere.

How we moderate

  • Automatic scanning. Every uploaded photo is checked against known child sexual abuse material using Microsoft PhotoDNA, and screened by AI for nudity and apparent minors.
  • Human review. Flagged content goes to our moderation team. We aim to review reports within 24 hours.
  • Report and block everywhere. Every profile and every chat has report and block tools.
  • Consequences. We remove content that breaks our rules and suspend or ban accounts. Serious violations are reported to law enforcement.

Zero tolerance

Content that sexualizes minors is never allowed. It is removed, preserved as required by law, and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). Read our full Child Safety Standards. We also prohibit sharing intimate images without consent (request removal here, handled within 48 hours), human trafficking, and soliciting or advertising commercial sexual services.

Staying safe when you meet

  • Take your time before sharing your last name, workplace or home address.
  • Meet in a public place first, tell a friend where you'll be, and arrange your own transportation.
  • Talk about boundaries and sexual health openly before you meet. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave, and report the profile.
In an emergency, contact your local emergency services. Law enforcement agencies can find our process on the law enforcement page.
